Thesis Paper Format
Something of great help: Thesis Paper Format
We all know it’s a little hard to come up with a thesis. We’ve always heard from our friends, acquaintances and professionals that a thesis is indeed a difficult thing. And whether we like it or not, it actually is! And if we’re going through our studies, we will definitely have to go through the exercise ourselves too.
The basic reason behind thesis is to have a new, original work. Students graduating from universities are required to work on a thesis. And that is the distinguishing mark of these students, who have thought about something, framed it into an issue and contributed to knowledge of others, by an original piece of work.
When writing a thesis, it is extremely important to pay strict attention to the format of your thesis. Formats are necessary because if everyone will be making the thesis in their own way, it will become extremely difficult for the instructors to evaluate the work. This is where the Thesis Paper Formats become necessary.
A Generic Thesis Paper Format comprises of following elements:
Introduction
It is an overall introduction, of general nature. This part tries to tell what the thesis is all about. One thing to remember here is that this part is not the explanation of the various sections.
Background
This is an optional item. It becomes very useful if your work is spread over two or three fields. The part tries to give background information which may be necessary to understand the issue at hand.
Literature Review
For this part, you would have to read a lot of relevant material from specialized journals, newspaper articles, and news items etc., depending upon your topic. This is not your own opinion about the topic, but the opinion of various sources and authorities. You just have to gather it, read it, and understand it.
Problem Statement/Research Question
This head includes three important elements:
• A brief statement of what your thesis talks about
• A small justification that your point is still unanswered
• And why is it important to understand this topic
Description of your solution
This part of Thesis Paper Format should deal with your solution of the problem stated at the start. This part may or may not have any proper form as such. It may or may not have various more sections either. The sole purpose of this part is to tell the person evaluating your work, that you have answered the question you posed or have provided a solution to the problem stated.
Conclusion
This part of the Thesis Paper Format deals with summarizing your findings and trying to close the entire exercise.
References
This is one thing that absolutely should not be ignored in any way. Mentioning of all the resources used and giving their due credit is extremely important and shows the character of the person writing the thesis.
Appendix
In the last part, all that material, which is not directly related to discussion or which hampers the continuity of the report is put into appendices.
The above steps provide a quick overview about a Thesis Paper Format. There may be some other Thesis Paper Formats available too. Look around a little and pick that suits you best!
