Thesis Editor
How to filter quality thesis as a Thesis Editor
While writing a thorough thesis pursuing all the requirements can be a tedious task, the role of a Thesis Editor does not get any easier. Thesis editors and dissertation advisors are very knowledgeable people, but going out of the way to help out in a fashion students need is another leap few editors take. Depending on the size of a thesis, a thesis editing process could take over a month. Much of the speed and accuracy of editing would depend on how well-prepared and experienced the thesis editors are. This does not mean that the student cannot be an editor. It is not a big deal if you can correct yourself for a quality output. This is where you should know where to look in a thesis. Before anything, you must give yourself a couple of weeks, ideally a month, before submission of the thesis.
• Challenge the title
Since you have been along the entire work and process, you would be the best person to challenge your own title/question/thesis statement. See if it is as effective as it was intended to be, whether the conclusion demands a more suitable, well worded thesis statement is entirely up to you. Challenging your title can strengthen the focus of your work by a good margin.
• Check for grammar, writing style, spelling
Needless to say, spelling correction is not only a crucial requirement but it saves you from a lot of trouble. A knowledgeable research loses majority of its impression by trivial mistakes. Grammar is essential as mere shuffle of words could change the meaning and tone of a sentence. Writing style is often explained before as it is desired, and should be compared or rechecked keeping a standard/benchmark in front of you.
• Check for citations
Referencing and citations do a single job but a very good one. They bring clarity and reduce doubt in the mind of the reader. Citations keep all readers at a common level so your thesis reaches its effective purpose. Trusting the recipient to know all the relevant sources or the credibility of your claims is a bad gamble.
• Assign one function to each chapter
Each chapter should work like a separate cog in your thesis. As a thesis editor make sure that the role of one chapter does not overlap the role of another. This avoids repetition and unnecessary overlapping of chapters, raising ambiguity in your work. If there are certain major points that must be highlighted and properly explained do it once and do it right, that makes the strength of your thesis.
A thesis editor goes with much responsibility and knowledge. The best person for the job is the author himself, there is no better enthusiasm in any one else. However, for those who are on a tight rope, there are always some thesis consultants and/or thesis coaches. Their insight and recommendations may teach you something you never knew of forgot. Either case, it is very promising!
