Security term paper
How to plan a security term paper

When you get a chance to write a term paper, the best part is the selection of a topic of your own choice. While selecting an easy topic could be a tedious task, it brings out much interest and curiosity required to have a good term on the way for you. If you get a chance to write on a security term paper then you need to be wary of the general discussions that can crop out from topics on security. Although security is a very simple term, it is very broadly used and needs to be narrowed down thoroughly before starting to write on it. Security comes in many forms:
• Physical: land security, law enforcement etc.
• IT: internet security, network security, data security
• Political: Financial security, national guard etc.
There three areas are the most common categories when coming to think about security. They all can lead to a diverse array of topics out of which only one should be chosen for the term paper. When you are selecting a topic, you must look for the topics that are:
• Closer to your field or interest
• Easier to research
• Have greater awareness
If you consider current affairs as a source of your interest then you can choose state level security that discusses ways to mitigate terrorist activities entering the national boundaries. This can narrow down to airport level security, foreign policy or simply the measures implemented by the law enforcement. A security term paper should be interesting for the reader. If there are technical terms then they should be explained in the introduction section of the term paper.
The introduction:
Ideally the introduction should first alarm the reader about the concern and reason for selecting this topic. This should grab attention by talking about its lack attention of impact on modern society. Eventually the technical terms should be discussed in the introduction. If there are theories or articles required to understand this better, then they should be part of the appendix. There can be examples for further clarification of the topic. Include or list down the main points you are going to discuss. These can be a list of issues or cases, or new developments, that is related to the objective of the term paper i.e. thesis statement. There should be acknowledgment of additional people if they were involved in assisting the study.
The body:
The body of the security term paper includes an explanation of all the main points that were mentioned in the introduction. It is a good idea to support with data that endorses the point, such as statistics on the usage of social media, or increasing number of cyber crimes etc. This can lead to a brief introduction of modern ways of security that will be cost effective and delay the increased chances of crime.
The conclusion:
The conclusion should have a summary of all the main points that were discussed in the security term paper. These points should lead to a conclusion that may be safely pre-conceived but carefully justified. This conclusion is basically the analysis the writer can generate on his/her own. It must be given much time before declaring some recommendations or finalizing the term paper. This part generally interests the instructors the most. It finally needs to prove how the thesis statement is proved or disproved. Similarly it should also explain in plain terms, how security can be improved for the future. If there is need for further research, then that should be mentioned as well. Mentioning citations is of crucial importance to the instructor. Honoring those published material that was chosen for research with a prescribed format is a way of demonstrating professional approach to a term paper.
