Important qualities of a good English term paper

Many assignments are limited to the objectives that are defined by the instructor. If they are not following the guidelines then they govern the deduction of marks. Term papers however are different from assignments. Usually the selection of topic is left in discretion of the student to work upon. This is because a term paper demands something more than just a write-up. This is a research-based work that takes time and patience to deliver something meaningful by the end. It is not a mere elaboration of facts but a discussion that brings a practical and generalized conclusion. In essence, it is a perfect specimen that demonstrates the critical thinking ability of the writer. When it comes to an English term paper, there are a variety of choices for a topic. These topics can be related to history, current affairs, legal, or social issues. The selection can be created out of creativity and interest of the writer. It is however in good practice to send a proposal before starting to write a term paper.
A good English term paper has certain qualities, which if specifically worked upon, can score a very high grade for the student. They are not difficult. However they demand a good amount of thought and proofreading before submitting the paper. In general, they are just one-tenth of the entire term paper’s content, but they decide which direction the writer should take. These qualities should be:
• Thesis: A good thesis is what every instructor wants. It is the main argument that gives the term paper its purpose. It should be complete in terms of answering:
1. How it is significant?
2. Why is it chosen?
3. When it happened?
4. Where it happened?
5. What is it?
• Sources: The sources of all the information for your English term paper should be
1. Credible
2. Valid
3. Not too old
• Grammar: There should be no spelling mistakes. A single mistake would reflect a casual attitude.
• Format: There is a general format that is already explained and is desirable for the instructor. It is best consulted with the instructor first before deciding the acceptable manner.
• Conclusion: It should be substantial in the sense that it is practical and supported with the facts that were explained in the body. All main points should point towards the conclusion.
Once the instructor is convinced that the English term paper was well-planned and researched, it will definitely lead to an A-grade. Although this entails nearly everything about the term paper, there is clearly no short cut for this hard work. It is a kind of an assignment that cannot be compromised by a mercenary approach. It requires devotion and patience to qualify something that satisfies a curiosity. It must be interesting enough to catch the attention of the reader. Once it is successful in these attempts, there is very little reason left to lose marks. Ideally they must represent the ability of the writer to produce a professional piece of writing that can be utilized in any field of research.
