Monday, September 21st, 2009

Information is power and power is what we all hunger for. Thinking on these lines, leads one to believe that an informative essay is just the right thing to read when you are looking for a lot of details about something or someone. Let us for sometime imagine that you and I are determined to find out all that we can about RDX explosives. Quite an explosive subject, you will agree, but one that is interesting and relevant in today’s world of terrorism and fear.

Once you have started scouring the net for some pertinent info on this tool of terrorism, you wonder how you can get all the data without being tracked by some policing search engine that might be keeping a watch on surfers who access info on these explosives. You will also realize that the best way to get these details is by reading informative essays that are written by experts in the field of explosives and anti-terrorist operations.

How to Write an Essay on Mathematics?

An Essay on Mathematics is very easy to write once the concept has been grasped. Mostly, a math essay would be about formulae or derivations, etc. Mathematics is something like science. You just cannot get a wrong answer. There are steps and formulae to be used in all the problems and if they are used correctly, there is no chance for a problem to go wrong.

Mathematics is a subject that most students today have grown to hate. Some of them think that it is a tough and boring subject- on the contrary, it is something very easy and interesting once the concept is understood. The main reason for such a prejudice could be attributed to the type of mental image that the students have, planted probably by the teachers. More than anything else, the teachers create a fear in the minds of students. “If you do not finish this homework tomorrow, I’ll make you kneel down in front of the principal’s office for all to see!” is a sentence that any average teacher tells a student. Let us take such an instance as an example. Now, the student is worried more about the embarrassment that would be in store for him rather than mathematics. Now, the “problem” has changed. So, his only aim is to somehow finish the sum to avoid the punishment. In such a case, how will the student be able to concentrate on the task at hand? Eventually, since he does not enjoy doing the problem, the student, at a very young age loses interest in mathematics. The funny part is, he loses interest even before attempting to develop one! Therefore, at a very young age, the admiration that he could have developed for the subject is curbed by a wrong image that has been planted on his mind probably by his own teacher, indirectly. The teacher also has not done it on purpose. Her intentions are good. But the way she has executed it is wrong. The teacher must not threaten the students. Rather, she must encourage them. Before teaching them mathematics, the teacher should teach the students, how to create an interest for the subject. She should make them enjoy what they do. Only, then will there be any effective result. Only then, can she be considered a good teacher.

What You Should Do For Writing Good Topics…

Introduction

“Change is the only thing that remains constant in this world” is a popular saying. Earlier the number of people who educated themselves was very less in India. Education was not given much of an importance. But the times are changing. Today, the competition is too much for people to catch up with. Especially, these days, students are required to write a lot of essays, research papers, and articles and so on. Essays are required to be written by students to get admitted into schools and other educational institutions, during exams and so on. The professors and other people who judge your essays do not have all the time in the world to go through every word of your essay. In that case, the authorities would be pleased if there is an element in the essay that catches their eye. The easiest way to bring in “that element” is to have a catchy topic for your essay or article. Writing topics is not so difficult if you are sure of what your essay is about. The very objective of giving a catchy title is to make the readers curious about what the essay is about. Therefore the title must capture the essence of your essay.

What is an opinion essay?

Introduction

Essays are of myriad types, many of which have their specific purpose. For instance, descriptive essay, narrative essay and so on. An opinion essay is one among those essays that serve a purpose, and this benefits both the writer and the reader effectively. In fact it may be considered slightly more beneficial to the writers. In such an essay the writer is free to express his opinion strongly and he can adopt any approach that he finds is most appropriate. This “opinion” need not necessarily be one that is negative or controversial; the writer may also express his opinion in favor of something, or sometimes even choose to list out the pros and cons in the essay. For example in an opinion essay on “Capital punishment” the writer may choose to express his distaste for the practice or on the contrary he may choose to write in favor of the practice. Some writers are also found to write in a way that combines may different opinions, though this is not ideally the way opinion essays are to be written, it is however permissible. The most highlighting factor about such essays is the freedom that one is given to express his or her opinions boldly and however vehement they choose for it to be. The writer can invoke any deep stirring emotion through such essays, like that of patriotism, hatred; passion etc. opinion essays could be called personal essays in way because it allows us to express our truest opinions in way that does not necessarily have to be diplomatic. We can express our own personal views without having to restrict ourselves from anything. In most essays writers are not given complete freedom of expression as in opinion essays.

Essay Writing Guide

Monday, January 26th, 2009

A lot of students, though being very good at their subject, have troubles writing up good essays. We were numerous times to provide some sort of essay writing guide so that everybody has some sort of checklist to follow when writing their essay. And so, here we go:

  1. Idea Every essay should first be formed in your head. You should have a nice and clear picture of what you want to write about and how you want your finalized paper to look like. Think of what feelings you want to arouse in your reader and what thoughts you want him/her to come up with. Keeping all that in mind think of the major arguments you are going to prove in your work.
  2. Research Having a formed idea and arguments, you should start looking for some research to prove them. Look for some substantial and well-proved facts and figures, rather then vague texts of unknown authors. Good research is a key to success of your essay, thus the most of the time you work on your writing should be devoted to it. Never hesitate to spend another minute in the library or browsing the web – this can be the moment you find something very interesting.
  3. Composition Once you have your research in place you will end up with the situation that you have too much of it for the size of your work. That is actually very good. This enables you to pick the best pieces and line them up in such a way that one fact flows into another. That will form the core part of your essay.
  4. Draft After aligning your research as you see fit – fill free to write your first draft that will already include introduction, any intermediate paragraphs if needed and a conclusion. Do not stop just yet – this is only the first version of your essay.
  5. Refining Read the paper through yourself or have your friends read and comment on it. Make sure that you like how the paper flows from one argument to another and that all the arguments are strong and well-proved. See if the introduction really catches your ear and the conclusion wraps it all up nicely. This is the time to trim any edges and correct all the mistakes.
  6. Proofreading After the corrections are done – proofread the paper. If you do not like what you read – go back to the refining stage as many times as needed to be satisfied with your paper.
