Introduction
The research paper introduction is the first and rather important component of a research paper. It establishes the broad idea of concern that the paper covers. It sheds light on the assumptions made by the author and states whether they are true or false according to the research conducted. In a research paper, it is always better to write in third person. Even if the writer wants to refer to himself, he will write it as the “the writer said…” and not “I said…” Also, slang terms must be avoided. Otherwise, it will not make a good impression on the readers as what we are writing is a formal paper. Try to make the paper as interesting as possible.
Body
This is the most important part of the research paper as the entire content is here. It contains the essence of what you did, your entire work. Make sure that this part is made very interesting so that it holds the readers’ curiosity. This is also the part in which a lot of citations and references are made. Ensure that the interviews and other activities you did for this research are documented so that you can refer to them properly when you write the body of the research paper.
Conclusion
The conclusion contains the end result of the research. This part tells the readers if the assumptions that you made are correct or not. If they are correct, you must provide proper evidence to support it and if it is not, you have to state what emerged out of the research.
Personal Experience
This section, as the name suggests, deals with the experiences that you had while doing this research. You can highlight on points like how you first got the idea to work on this research, who worked for you, how you organized it, what you learnt in the process, how this research paper could benefit your community, what the project means to you and the like.
Special Concerns – Citations and references
Another important component of the research paper is the citation and the reference section. This is important because it states clearly where you got the source of information. In case you do not maintain a reference page, you work could account for plagiarism. Stealing another person’s work and representing it as you own is called plagiarism. You can always quote other people in your research paper, but do not forget to cite them and mention it in the reference section. There are different formats to do so. The APA (American Psychological Association) and the MLA (Modern Language Association) and the Harvard citation are the most widely used research paper formats.
