Tips for writing a Good Expository Essay…
Expository essay is written to explain the reader about something with the body of language. By discussing the topic to the reader, the writer is explaining his own knowledge in the particular field. This type of essay writing is written by a writer who has an in-depth knowledge in a particular field. There are various ways in going about in writing this type of essay; here are some of the steps that can be followed by the writer while writing this kind of essay:
• A writer should choose a topic in which he has a complete knowledge. It is not just enough to have the basic knowledge over a subject. The writer should be able to provide additional information that the readers are unaware of.
• The thesis statement is important to an expository essay. The writer should be able to provide with the main theme of the essay in the thesis statement. The statement should be precise and to the point.
• The essay can follow any form of essay like the compare and contrast form, definition form, informal form, cause and effect form and classification form. After selecting the form of essay the writer is going to follow, the writer should start organizing the essay. The writer should decide which information should come where according to the level of importance.
• For this form of essay, it is best to give side-headings for each paragraph that is dealing with different types of information. Each paragraph should cover the basic idea that the writer wishes to make.
• As the expository essay is all about the knowledge possessed by the writer, the writer should be able to convey the information effectively without too many explanations.
• The writer should not generalize any points that might be critical. While providing these kind of information, the writer should personalize the points and write what he personally feel about the subject.
These are some of the tips that can be followed by the writer. While writing the conclusion, the writer should restate the thesis statement. The conclusion should effectively wrap all the points provided by the writer and the writer can give a possible solution if the subject requires a solution. The writer can also make the readers participate in the subject by asking them a few questions, their opinions and their feed backs. Theessay format should be followed correctly by the writer.
