How to write a persuasive essay
If you are one of those people who are good at analyzing things, then essay writing is definitely something that you will be good at. If you are writing a persuasive essay the main idea is to not only make the reader understand, but also to agree with the point that you put forward. Thus every single point that you put forward in your essay needs to be properly crafted and well expressed.
Much before you start working on the actual persuasive essay you need to determine the topic that you will be writing on. If you have the option of choosing the topic yourself you should always go for a topic that interests you. The next thing you need to do is determine the main idea of the essay and the point that you want to put across to your reader. The best way to do so is trying to analyze your audience and seeing what part of the topic might interest them and then base your argument on them. If the persuasive essay topic you have chosen is something that your audience disagrees with then you have to take a different approach that will involve a lot of justification.
Like all normal essays, the first paragraph of the persuasive essay will be the introduction. The introduction is extremely important especially because it is the main attention grabbing part of the essay; it can make or break your essay. If you are not able to get the reader’s attention in the opening paragraph, there is very little chance you will be able to get your point through to them. Your introduction paragraph needs to put across your point of view to the reader. The introductory paragraph sets the tone for the whole essay.
The body is to take forward your main idea; each paragraph that you use in the body needs to express one idea at a time. You need to provide a lot of justification and example is support of your idea to persuade the reader completely. Mainly because at times one idea cannot be put across with one example and you need to support it further.
The final paragraph of the essay should be the conclusion. One thing that you need to ensure is that you do not come up with something new in this paragraph, you need to sum up all the points that you have discussed in the persuasive essay. The audience should feel connected after reading the essay and not just be left thinking that the ending was abrupt.
In writing a persuasive essay you need to ensure that your choice of words needs to be catchy and keep the reader interested. You need to ensure that the points you put across do not support the opposite viewpoint. If you are not able to support some idea which may be true, then its best to omit such ideas and not include them because it still may mislead the reader and they may not agree with your viewpoint.
